Logistics and transit CV: how to present your internships and skills?

A logistics CV should explain what you did, which flows you supported and how independently you worked. A list of software and technical terms is not enough. Even a short internship can be useful when described precisely without inflating your role.
Choose an accurate headline
Use a title matching your target: “Junior logistics assistant” or “Logistics and transit internship applicant”. Avoid “transit expert” if you only shadowed the team. Add a two- or three-line profile.
“Transport and logistics training with an internship supporting document handling. Experience organising paperwork, entering data and maintaining an Excel shipment tracker under supervision.”

Describe internships through actions
Give the organisation, dates, department and contribution. Separate observation from tasks you performed. The following are models, not experiences to copy without checking.
- “Collected and filed shipping documents using internal references.”
- “Updated statuses received from the carrier and prepared follow-ups for approval.”
- “Helped compare expected quantities with receiving information.”
If you supported ten files over a month, explain your work on each. Do not turn filing assistance into full responsibility for customs clearance.
Connect each skill to evidence
| Skill | Possible evidence |
|---|---|
| Document organisation | Fictional document index with check statuses |
| Excel | Filterable tracker with formulas you can explain |
| Communication | Fictional professional follow-up and update |
| Professional English | Actual ability to explain a status or write a simple message |
Do not claim proficiency in a specialist system you only saw demonstrated. Use “introductory knowledge” or “observed use” when appropriate.
Include projects and transferable experience
A course project can show planning, scenario comparison or fictional order tracking. Specify your individual contribution to group work.
Helping in a family business can illustrate receiving goods or following up orders. State its informal nature and period. It does not replace regulated experience required by an advertisement.
Check before sending
Use a readable PDF and clear filename such as CV_Firstname_Lastname_Logistics.pdf. Check dates, contact details and requested attachments. Remove customer names, real file references and confidential prices.
Cover message: “Hello, I am applying for the logistics assistant position. During my internship, I supported document tracking and spreadsheet updates under supervision. I am available to explain those tasks and present a fictional exercise. Please find my CV attached.”
For each vacancy, prioritise relevant skills and tailor your profile. Your CV should make both your experience and learning needs clear.
