Finding your first agricultural job in Cameroon

A first agricultural job may involve crop care, nursery work, harvesting or technical support. In Cameroon, start by identifying tasks you can perform and conditions that make a role practical for you.

1. Focus on duties

On Kamerjob, search for farm worker, agricultural technician, nursery worker, vegetable production and French equivalents. Read the requirements: some roles need qualifications, specific experience or seasonal availability. Check listing status and deadline.

2. List your actual skills

Record crops, tasks, periods, supervision and tools. Regular family-farm work can be relevant when accurately described. Do not claim experience with every crop or machine.

3. Prepare a short application

Fictional message to adapt: “Hello, I am applying for the farm-worker role. I helped maintain and harvest maize on a family plot under a relative’s guidance. I am available from the stated date and would like to confirm tasks, exact location and hours.”

Attach a simple CV or experience summary with contact information and city. Obtain permission before giving a referee’s contact.

4. Check conditions before travelling

  • Location, access and receiving contact.
  • Hours, duration and tasks.
  • Pay basis and payment date.
  • Transport, any accommodation, water, breaks, tools and protection.

Clarify any trial conditions. Independently verify demands for money linked to promised employment.

5. Track applications

Record vacancies, dates and replies. Prepare two task examples and questions about training. A role matching your current ability, with clear supervision, can build a solid first experience.
