Working in AI without being a developer: what are your options?

Interested in artificial intelligence but not a software developer? Some projects need people who can evaluate content, contribute professional expertise, train users or measure marketing results. Start with a genuine skill, complemented by an understanding of the tools and their limitations.

“Not a developer” does not mean “no qualifications”. The Kamerjob examples below were identified on 18 October 2026; availability and conditions must be reconfirmed. Suggested exercises are fictional.

1. Evaluate responses through subject expertise

A specialist can help check the accuracy, relevance or consistency of AI-generated content. The Child Development Psychologist (PhD) vacancy at micro1 includes data evaluation, annotation and analysis of child-development scenarios.

The advert says previous AI experience is unnecessary but asks for a doctorate in the relevant or a related field. Its displayed deadline is 28 October 2026. It illustrates a route for a qualified expert, not a role open to everyone.

Fictional exercise: choose an answer in a subject you know, identify errors, justify corrections with sources and explain which points need a professional’s judgement. Use no confidential case files.

2. Annotate and check data quality

Depending on the project, annotation may involve assigning categories, comparing responses or identifying elements under specified instructions. Accuracy, language comprehension and explaining decisions matter. Some assignments require advanced expertise; others require a test or specific training. Read each advert.

The micro1 listing is an example of specialist annotation. It does not establish that all annotation work accepts beginners. For personal practice, use authorised public data or invented examples and document classification rules.

3. Apply AI within a marketing career

The Digital Marketing & Google Ads / AI Search Specialist vacancy at Logicstics combines advertising, SEO, conversion tracking and visibility in AI search. Its description requests at least three years of practical experience and gives a 6 November 2026 deadline.

This route values marketing competence, beyond tool familiarity. Present a campaign, decisions, metrics and your exact contribution. Do not invent unmeasured results.

Fictional example: “I drafted several copy options with AI assistance, then checked facts and adapted the tone. My portfolio shows selected versions and the planned measurement method.”

4. Train users or support professional adoption

Someone who can explain a process can prepare demonstrations and exercises for a specific profession. However, trainer and consultant roles may require particular technical, teaching and sector skills. Do not assume they never require programming.

Among the identified adverts, ENSET Ebolowa includes AI among specialisms in its recruitment of part-time lecturers and professionals, with a displayed 21 October 2026 deadline. Check qualifications and expected teaching content.

For a teaching portfolio, build a short session on a specific task, including an objective, exercise, result-checking and data precautions. Label it a personal demonstration rather than training you have already delivered commercially.

5. Prove your contribution accurately

Prepare two or three work samples describing the problem, personal role, tools, human checks, results and limits. Distinguish exercises from client projects. Obtain permission before sharing company work or data.

  • Subject expert: relevant qualifications and a reasoned assessment sample.
  • Language profile: correction or comparison under explicit criteria.
  • Marketing: campaign, analysis and verifiable results.
  • Training: materials, demonstration and assessment exercise.

For beginners, exercises help build skills and show a method; they do not replace required experience or qualifications. Replace “I can use ChatGPT” with a precise description of what you produce and check.

6. Search for suitable roles on Kamerjob

Browse Kamerjob vacancies using several terms: “IA”, “AI”, “annotation”, “evaluation”, “trainer” and your specialism. Not every route described represents a currently available vacancy.

Check seniority, languages, eligible countries, hours, contract and payment. Remote work is not necessarily open to every country or guaranteed to be regular. Do not pay an unverified contact to access an assignment.
