Maintenance technician: how to present interventions in your CV?

“Machine maintenance” does not explain your experience. Recruiters need to understand equipment, symptoms, your contribution and checks. Describe interventions accurately without turning supervised assistance into full responsibility.
State context and role
Identify sector, equipment family and period. Distinguish industrial machinery, electronic devices and IT hardware: skills may complement one another but are not identical.
Specify observation, assistance or authorised task performance. Describe training and authorisations accurately without implying universal permission across sites.

Use four clear elements
| Element | Fictional example |
|---|---|
| Finding | Intermittent stoppage reported on identified equipment |
| Contribution | Collected symptoms and reviewed history |
| Action | Supported work selected by the supervising technician |
| Check | Recorded tests and approved equipment status |
This is a reporting model, not a troubleshooting procedure. Do not invent measurements or confirmed causes.
Write a defensible CV statement
“Supported maintenance interventions through symptom recording, document preparation and report updates under a supervising technician.”
For work within your own authority, identify actual operations and approved checks. Do not describe hazardous improvisation to impress. Site procedures govern safe preparation and return-to-service approval.
Present results carefully
A completed record, reported discrepancy or documented test can be useful evidence. Explain the period, source and contribution behind any reduced-downtime claim. One observed restart does not prove a fault is permanently resolved.
Prepare evidence
Use wholly fictional reports or material approved for sharing, excluding confidential drawings and parameters. Label training exercises. Explain decisions you could make and those requiring approval.
Show a reliable approach: understand, work within scope, verify and communicate. This helps the employer assess skills and training needs.
