Storekeeper CV: how to present your experience and tools?

A storekeeper CV should make your work concrete: which products, tasks and tools did you handle? Personal qualities cannot replace this information. Present your experience clearly and honestly.

Use a precise title

Choose “Storekeeper”, “Assistant storekeeper” or “Inventory officer” according to the target role and your experience. Summarise relevant skills without implying management responsibility you did not hold.

“Junior storekeeper with receiving and storage experience in a retail stockroom. Practised counting, filing delivery records and maintaining an Excel movement tracker under supervision.”

Describe experience through tasks

Give the employer or context, dates and role. Adapt these examples only to work you actually performed.

  • “Compared received references and quantities with delivery records.”
  • “Stored goods in assigned locations and updated stock cards.”
  • “Participated in counts and reported discrepancies for verification.”

Identify family-shop or association work honestly. Do not turn a few days of help into years of salaried employment.

Specify tools and proficiency

ToolUseful description
ExcelData entry, filters and movement calculations actually practised
Barcode readerThe specific task performed, if any
Inventory softwareName, transactions completed and independence level
Paper recordsDated entries and supporting-document filing

Distinguish introductory knowledge, supervised practice and independent use. Data entry does not demonstrate full system configuration skills. Material-handling equipment requires separate competence and authorisation.

Choose defensible results

An updated register, a completed zone count or a unit error detected can be useful evidence. If quoting a volume, identify the period and operation. Do not state an accuracy rate without a calculation base.

“Participated in a stockroom count, recorded results and prepared a discrepancy list for the supervisor.”

Check your application

Use a readable file such as CV_Firstname_Lastname_Storekeeper.pdf. Check contact details, dates and required attachments. Any portfolio must use fictional data, excluding former employers’ stocks, prices and customers.

Tailor your opening lines to the advertisement. Help the recruiter see what you can do now and which procedures you still need to learn.
